(17 Nov 2018) Thousands of supporters and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community in Hong Kong gathered on Saturday to participate in the annual Pride Parade. Attendees clad in this year's theme colour, purple, were advocating for equality under the law. Their march began from Causeway Bay and made their way towards the city centre. They were joined by legislative councilors, community leaders and celebrities. In July, Hong Kong recognised same-sex partnerships for the application of dependent visas after a landmark ruling by the Court of Final Appeal, a move welcomed by the LGBTQ community and international businesses operating in the city. Despite the ruling, Hong Kong has not passed laws recognising same-sex partnerships. This is the tenth year that that the parade has taken place in Hong Kong.
