Mahesh Babu is one of the most charismatic and talented stars in the Telugu film industry today. Fondly referred to as 'Prince', the superstar is held in high regard thanks to his dashing personality, chocolate-boy looks, remarkable versatility as an actor and his simple nature. Over the years, the actor has starred in quite a few blockbusters, and this has established him as the pride of Tollywood. Now, here is some awesome news for all you Mahesh Babu fans out there.

According to reports in the Telugu media, Mahesh Babu is set to play his father Krishna in the eagerly awaited NTR biopic. The shooting of NTR Kathanayakudu has almost been wrapped up and only the scenes highlighting the bond between NTR and Krishna are pending to be shot.

Apparently, the film's leading man and Tollywood star Balakrishna personally called Mahesh Babu and asked him to play Krishna in the film. The Spyder actor is currently shooting for Maharshi in the US and he's likely to take a call about this in the days to come. In case you did not know, the NTR biopic/NTR Kathanayakudu is a Krish directorial and it revolves around the life of the former Andhra CM NTR. Besides NBK, it also features Vidya Balan, Rana Daggubati and Sumanth in the lead. Actress Rakul Preet is also a part of the cast and she'll be seen playing Sridevi in the film.

Mahesh Babu (born Mahesh Ghattamaneni) is an Indian film actor known for his work in Telugu cinema. Born to actor Krishna in the Ghattamaneni family, Mahesh Babu faced the camera at the age of four as a child artist in 1979's Needa directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. His first leading role was in the film Rajakumarudu, which was released in August 1999. In 2001 he starred in Murari a Telugu supernatural thriller film. In 2002 he starred in Takkari Donga. In 2003 he starred in the movie Nijam. He played a young Kabaddi player in the 2003 film Okkadu. His film Okkadu remade in Hindi as Tevar.

In 2006 he starred in Pokiri, premiered at the 7th IIFA Awards held in Dubai. The film was subsequently remade into Tamil, Hindi and Kannada. The film was also one of the fourteen southern Indian films to be screened at the International Indian Film Academy Awards Film festival in 2006. His film Pokiri was declared as an Industry Hit at the box office. In 2010, he starred in the film Khaleja. His performance in Khaleja was critically praised as one of his best performances. In 2011, he starred in Dookudu, which had the largest worldwide opening for a Telugu film. The film collected a share of 66 crores at the boxoffice.

In 2012, he starred in the film Businessman. Businessman collected a share of 42 crores at the box office. In 2013, he starred in the multistarrer film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. The film collected 51 crores at the box office. In 2014, he starred in the psychological thriller, 1: Nenokkadine. The film was the highest rated thrillers for an Indian film in Internet Movie Database. It won three awards out of eight nominations at the 4th South Indian International Movie Awards and two awards at the 11th CineMAA Awards ceremony. He was then starred in Aagadu. In 2015 his film Srimanthudu collected a gross of 200 crores in its lifetime. In 2016 his film Brahmotsavam was declared a flop at the box office. In 2017 his next film Spyder (film).which gained mixed reviews from critics and managed to gross ₹150 crores considered as a average. His film Bharat Ane Nenu collected a final gross of 230 crore and was declared as a all time blockbuster and also the third highest grosser of Telugu Film Industry. He is one of the South Indian actors to have eight Telugu films to collect more than 1 million dollars at the United States box office.

As of May 2018 he had 24 releases as a male lead. As an actor, he has received 8 Nandi Awards (4 Best Actor, 3 Special Jury, 1 Best Debut), 5 Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu. To date, he has won 8 Nandi Awards, 5 Filmfare Awards, 4 CineMAA Awards, 3 South Indian International Movie Awards and 1 International Indian Film Academy awards.
