I was asked to process the rest of the chickens so they could be distributed to families for food. The chickens had stopped laying eggs for a long time and they did not want to spend any money on food so I was asked to butcher them. I do not like killing at all but it is part of living on a farm so I figure it is good experience. You have to get over your weaknesses when living on a homestead so I did the job. I did not record the killing of the birds this time though. I only discuss what happened in this video. Now there are no more chickens on this property. They say maybe one day in the future but for now its not worth it for the little bit of eggs. I took a long look at the chicken coop while I was cleaning it out. It is about 8 foot square and tall enough to stand up fully in. You can easily reach the eggs from outside by lifting a door flap. The door to the egg batteries is held in place with an old car tire laid flat and nailed in place. Its a good idea. This makes it waterproof and durable. Inside the chicken coop there are 2x4s used for perches for the birds. The floor was covered with a tarp which made cleaning out the chicken coop easy. Just pull out the tarp and dump it out into a wheel barrow. I studied this chicken coop for ideas back on my own homestead.
