Week six of raising chickens. By this time, they are outdoors and pretty much taking care of themselves. They go into their bed at night on their own. All you need to do is close the cage at night to keep out predators. In the morning, they like to have some chicken scratch grains for breakfast. Top off their water and let them go. They love to scratch around all day looking for bugs and eating weeds and grass. This has the added benefit of keeping the bug population around your home down. In the evening, they often come running up in a group begging for more scratch grains. After dinner, they head into the chicken coop and wait to be closed in for the night.
