MY DRIVEL ENDS AND INTERVIEWS STARTS AT MINUTE 25:00! Despite the negative reaction of Christian fundagelicals and Pagan clothing, the similarities between Harry Potter and Jesus Christ are abundant. Both draw from the ancient and timeless template of the savior deity descended on Earth, the dying/rising godman essential to the Gnostics, the Mystery Religions, and even many mainstream faiths. We compare their similarities and contrast their differences, as well as the impact of the Potter mythos on our culture. We analyze whether or not Rowling intended from the beginning to create a rebooted Cosmic Messiah palatable to a modern age weary of the old myths and religions (and if she herself has an interest in The Occult). Lastly, we take a comprehensive voyage into the narratives and theologies of other savior gods of antiquity, including the various cults and secret brotherhoods that spawned them and would later become the foundation for both Gnosticism and early Christianity. Astral guest-- Derek Murphy, author of Jesus Potter Harry Christ.
