This is a Star Trek The Next Generation/DS9/Voyager Mark X Science Tricorder. This was built by one of the prop makers on the show. I received this Tricorder about a month ago as a trade/payment for building a Medical "Endagme" for a good customer of mine. The entire Tricorder is painted using automotive paint and sealed with an automotive clear coat. It features a vacuform body and full working electronics. It features over 70 working LEDs, scanning sounds and a mercury switch that cuts off the sound when the Tricorder is flat and activates the sounds when the Tricorder is slightly angled. I have modified the Tricorder in 3 ways: 

1) I added a hidden magnet to draw the door in and prevent it from swinging open when the Tricorder is upside down.

2) I replaced the 9 volt alkaline battery with a 3.7 volt rechargeable battery with a charger port which I left inside so as not to ruin the back panel with a hole for the charger port.

3) I repositioned the mercury switch to cut off the sound when the Tricorder is flat. Before, It was cutting off the sound while you were holding it straight up, pretty much.
