The Hirosaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry showcased Tsugaru Firefly, a series of unique wall-hanging indirect illumination lamps made by local blacksmith shops, at the International Gift Show 2008.

The Tsuragu Firefly lamps' foremost feature is that it is made of iron. The underside of the iron is coated with a thin film of lacquer, allowing the light that passes through tiny holes on the surface to become polarized. This is called the "Tsuragu Coating".
Light shows through by the lacquer. The mismatch between the cool texture of the iron and the subdued, soft light of the lacquer creates an exquisite atmosphere.
