It is able to bring out detail in color scans for the doctors use. The inclusion of the dicom interface means that information can be accessed immediately by medical professionals. The printer itself uses a thermal technique to increase image detail in colors used in films while maintaining the sharpness expected in black and white prints. As it can be used with multiple machines Sony hopes that it will have a wide range of use in the health industry.
