A family have received a five-figure out of court settlement from horsebox builders who 'murdered' her horse when it fell through the floor of their faulty £65,000 lorry. 

Carole Mutch was transporting her two horses to a friends farm in March 2015 when there prized event horse, Gorsehill Echo, fell through the wooden flooring, causing his leg to become trapped between the double wheels, fracturing his leg and removing his hoof. 

The horse was in such severe pain that he had to be put to sleep whilst still stuck inside the horsebox and it later turned out that Alexanders Horsesboxes, who built the lorry, had cut corners when fitting the 18mm wooden flooring without the correct support. 

Carole, whose son Harry is a professional event rider, is now warning other horses owner to check the flooring when purchasing a horsebox and has called for laws to be changed so all vehicles sturdy aluminum floors.
