We begin by discussing the four main early branches of the Protestant Reformation - Lutheran, Anglican, Reformed, and Anabaptist - and distinguishing between the conservative and radical Reformation. Then we turn to Luther himself, discuss his experiences, the doctrine that developed from them, his criticism of corruption in the Church, and his attack on the sale of indulgences in the 95 Theses. We then discuss the development of the Lutheran tradition as both split off from, differing from, but also continuing to share many aspects in common with Catholicism. We address Luther's theology, church organization and polity, and worship. If you'd like to support my work producing videos like this, become a Patreon supporter!
