Garden and lifestyle expert P. Allen Smith shares and easy to prepare recipe to use at your next garden gathering!

I love putting together finger foods when having friends over to the house. Their bite-sized portions allow people to mingle or hold a drink without worrying about a plate or utensil.

When it comes to finger foods, crudités are a great option. They're traditional French appetizers made from dipping raw vegetables in a sauce or a dip. This particular recipe is quite simple and utilizes three of my favorites from the garden - cherry tomatoes, chives and parsley!

Wash 2-3 cups of cherry tomatoes and place them to the side. When planting tomatoes, keep in mind that they'll need at least 8 hours of sun to bring out their best flavors!

Next you'll want to chop off the top of a red bell pepper and scoop out the ribbing and seeds.

With an electric mixer, blend 1 cup of sour cream and 1/2 cup of cream cheese together.

Once blended, add
• 1 teaspoon garlic (or 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder)
• 2 tablespoons scallions, chopped
• 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped

and blend well. Scoop this mixture into the hollowed bell pepper and garnish with parsley. Parsley not only complements most dishes, but also makes a great edging in the garden.

Finally, just place the pepper on a platter, scatter the cherry tomatoes around the dip on the platter, and let your guests enjoy!
