Appeals court reverses 10 of 13 counts in Pete Beck conviction

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - An appeals court has reversed ten of the thirteen charges of which former state representative Pete Beck was convicted for his role in bilking investors out of millions of dollars.

The Ohio First District Court of appeals overturned his convictions on three securities violations and seven counts of perjury. The securities fraud convictions were reversed due to the statute of limitations. The appeals court also found that Beck's answers to questions were not clearly false. That's why it reversed the perjury convictions.

The case centered around Beck's role in Christopher Technologies. Beck presented himself as the chief financial officer and told investors that the company was in good financial shape, which was not the case.

Beck was sentenced to four years in prison in August of 2015. That sentence could now be reduced.

Beck was indicted following a Local 12 investigation.
