But the country might also be the source of a solution in the form of a process called upcycling.

The process uses finished materials which have been discarded during the manufacturing process or rejected due to minor blemishes.

By using already usable materials, the process avoids recycling which would restart the whole production cycle - including all the waste of water, CO2, and energy.
