This began more or less as a three character video for Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman though somehow it became more of another Original 7 video. It emphasizes how Superman's 'demise' affects not only the League, but anyone whose life came into contact with his. Everyone is dealing with this happening in their own way. Batman is the last holdout of the remaining six. They manage with the help of Lobo to fend off a lineup of villains taking advantage of Superman's 'demise.' Meanwhile thousands of years into the future someone is preparing to come back because the world still needs him and because his friends still need him too. As for the context of the song "When I'm Gone" its meant to highlight how close they are even when they don't always get along or agree with each other. There are deeply human characters behind those masks they wear to the world, to each other that only get torn off when they are on the verge of recognizing their own mortality.
