DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv - If your cellphone reception changes everytime you tilt your phone or take two steps, you might want to talk to KDDI R&D labs about their Cognitive radio which seemlessly transfers your signal to the strongest available channel. This technology is useful in congested areas such as cities where several people are all talking on the same cell phone frequencies but other frequencies such as designated amateur radio and paging channels are largely unused. Cognitive radio can quickly switch to these less used, stronger channels by taking into consideration user behaviour, network state and radio frequency availability. Now government regulations prevent use of undesignated channels but ultimately, Cognitive Wireless technology could optimally use all radio frequencies and be applied to wireless Lan networks and emergency systems.
