A presentation sponsored by the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center, School of Forestry & Wildlife Sciences, Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama. Fred Bassett is a Certified Master Bird Bander specializing in Hummingbird banding and is President of Hummingbird Research, Inc., Montgomery, Alabama. Fred's primary focus is the observation and banding of wintering hummingbirds in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Fred's group has banded 11 species of hummingbirds in the Southeast during the winter and some of those birds return to the same location year after year. Please contact Fred if you have a hummingbird coming to your feeder after November 15 and Fred or an an associate bander will make every effort to come to your location to identify and band your winter visitor(s). Banding will not harm the bird or cause it to leave.
