Cow Parsley (anthriscus sylvestrus)grows in sunny to semi-shaded locations in meadows and at the edges of hedgerows and woodland. It is a particularly common sight by the roadside. The plant has a number of local names; hedge parsley, wild chervil and Queen Annes lace the latter apparently arose from the days when Queen Anne travelled in May, people believed the roadsides had been decorated especially for her. It can be found throughout almost all of Europe, and in parts of northwest Africa and Asia. In the Mediterranean area its occurrence is limited to higher altitudes. It is sufficiently common and fast-growing to be considered a nuisance weed. Visit WWW.STOCKSHOT.NL for highres version or broadcast video footage. More flora available!
