James Kalm is out on a Super Bowl Sunday, and aside from the drizzle, it’s a perfect day to view art. Viewers can tag along as your correspondent coasts out to the Southeastern end of Bushwick and drops into Songs for Presidents to grab David Kearns for a walking tour of his show “Futures and Pasts”. This show features sculptures and large acrylic paintings on paper. Many of these works have a cartoonish narrative and are thickly layered with glazes, washes and scumbling. Then on to Honey Rampka for a viewing of “Fugue” an impressive show of artists who are all delving into figurative subject matter but with a shared interest in the physical material of paint and paintings. Artists represented are: Judy Glantzman, Kate Klingbeil, Nikki Mehle, Dasha Shishkin, Kyle Vu-Dunn, and Anne Weider-Blank This program was recorded February 4, 2018.
