The first walk in a series of 4, starting and ending in Witton Park near Blackburn. Features some fantastic views from gorse hill out over the Fylde coast and even Blackpool Tower can be seen on a clear day. In another direction Darwen Tower and the TV transmitter on Winter Hill can be seen. Pendle hill is clearly visible from this viewpoint. Continuing round the trail though open farmland and then down the valley to meet the river Darwen just before Hoghton Bottoms then on past Pleasington Golf Course and on into Pleasington village. Here the Priory is well worth a look in. The trail then returns to the westerly most side of the park before returning to the start point. A total distance of 6 miles with just a couple of steep inclines up through Billing woods onto gorse hill and takeas about 2 hours to complete at a moderate pace. map from Blackburn and Darwen Website: http://www.blackburn.gov.uk/upload/pdf/Beamers_Trail.pdf
