Believe it or not, NMZ and sand crabs weren't always the best XP in the game. It used to be much harder to come by. Whether you're a new players or a veteran of RuneScape, take a trip down memory lane with me as we explore old methods of getting amazing experience.

Hello everyone and welcome to the top 5 most nostalgic and outdated training methods in old school runescape. In this video, I will go over training methods people used to use to max their account or just to get a ton of experience. These methods have become obsolete due to better training locations such as sand crabs and nightmare zone. Anyways guys, let’s jump into the countdown.

Number 5: Gorillas
These guys were one of the best places to train because you essentially had unlimited prayer from the altar. Since they have a lot of HP, they were efficient to dharok bringing in massive amounts of experience per hour. Believe it or not, this used to be one of the fastest ways to train in the game, but quickly died with the introduction of better methods. Sadly, this method will forever be lost in time as dharoking in nightmare zone is more efficient in every way possible.

Number 4: Yaks
I can remember spending most of my time here for my range xp back in the day. This place was always so crowded, filled three plus people in every world. I vaguely remember having to hop frequently in order to find an empty world to train in. The xp was average at best, but I remember it being very relaxing. I was so excited when I first did fremmenik isles, as I thought it was a huge upgrade from rock crabs. Unfortunately, this place is a ghost town these days.

Number 3: Bandits
These guys were truly the way to AFK back in the day. Nightmare zone, again, took over this method by a landslide. People either used the prayer method, noted food method or the guthan method to last extended amounts of time here. This method is personally how I got most of my experience prior to the release of nightmare zone, but sadly this method is now slowly being forgotten

Number 2: Magic axes
Not many people might remember this one, as this one goes way back. The hut in the deep wildy used to be filled with high leveled players killing magic axes. To be honest, I am not sure why this one was so popular as it was in the wildy, but I can remember several people swarming this location whenever I went exploring as a noob. They are killed now occasionally due to the introduction of wilderness slayer, but other than that, it is dead content.

Number 1: Experiments
Every veteran knows about Experiments. Extremely weak hitting monsters with 100 hitpoints made these creatures ideal for both mains and pures alike. They are unaggressive and rather spaced apart, and were abandoned quickly once better methods came into the game. I personally remember unlocked I mortyiana with the sole purpose of killing experiments. I was always bummed at how crowded they were.
