Construction of railway France 1950s.
Crane moving railway sleepers about to be fixed to a new railway. Sleepers positioned in a line. Fixings used to attach lengths of track to the sleepers. A machine bolts fixings in place.  Two men pushing a gantry along the section of track.  This crane lifts railway and railway sleepers at the same time. Sections are transported by special rail car to location where workers are installing new lines.  Railway being welded together on the spot.
