Couple, Baby Scalded In House Fire

A couple and their 11-month-old daughter suffered burns after their home caught fire at Kampung Lino Lanas in Keningau, Sabah last night. The blaze, at 8.10pm, also completely destroyed the house before it was finally put out more than two hours later. According to the state Fire and Rescue Department, they received a distress call at 8.27pm from the couple's neighbour. However, by the time the firemen arrived, the house was completely razed. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Yesmin Jubilik, who sustained burns on the leg his wife, Petronella Jems, aged 38, whose limbs were scalded while their baby, Elisa Wanda, sustained burns on the face. Yesmin's parents and a younger brother, who were also in the house, managed to escape unhurt. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
