"We Were Evergreen sound like kids in a shop designed to accommodate under-fives with a rabid desire to bash plastic instruments, or adults keen to recapture a childhood penchant for the same. The clue is in the band name: We Were Evergreen. Amid the exuberant abuse of keyboards and such and the jolly three-part harmonies, there's a sorrow here connoting a longing for the carefree fun of youth – hence the past tense. (...) Meanwhile, the three words in their name are supposed to mirror the three band members, who met, by the way, at the Conservatoire de Musique in Paris." - The Guardian, Paul Lester, May 22 2012

The trio has just released a new album called 'Overseas'. Check it out!

♪ lyrics ♪

[Verse 1:]
Away with the lights
And down
With every last remaining
Conversational height
Are we out of sight?
I’m not about to let this
Keep me up in the night

Oh we happy few
We condescending
Congregating
Party of fools

Any words
Will do
A streaking and a stocking
In a room with a view

[Chorus 1:]
And I’ve done
I’ve done what I could
To black-and-whiten down technicolorhood
But I know, I got to be good
If I wanna catch the break that
I know I should
Yes I should, yes I should
Have run away while I could

[Verse 2:]
Four years and a week
To complete
What Damon or Gonzales
Would have done in a day
Here’s to our defeat
We'll sugarcoat it all to cut the meaning away

This is all so well
As long as we get all the leeway needed to think
We are hooks and cowbells
I hope this ends up in a Kenzo advertisement

[Chorus 2:]
And I’ve done
I’ve done what I could
To black-and-whiten down technicolorhood
But I know, I got to be good
If I wanna catch the break that
I know I should
Yes I should, yes I should
Have run away while I could

[Outro: Repeats 3x]
I got nothing to say
I got nothing new
Not a thing to convey
To you

I got no love to give
And no message at all
You won’t learn anything
From this song
