Robert van Neikerk is a Professor of Social Policy at Rhodes University and Director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research. He has a keen interest in social policy in post-Apartheid South Africa - particularly policies aimed at overcoming inequality and developing the social rights of citizenship and the "good society". Van Niekerk spoke at the National Arts Festival in Grahamestown on 3 July 2012. He addressed the topic "Cultural Boycotts -- Are They Effective?"
