I'm going to be sharing seven songs I set to music for someone known to me only as Hayley. Music comes very easily to me but I always struggled with writing words, so I love setting other people's words to music. Especially when the words are as moving and poetic as this songwriter's. The photos are just from my personal archive. Maybe eight years ago, I met a girl named Hayley. She emailed me a load of songs. I set some of them to music. I found her lyrics amazing. I don't think she was looking for my style of music, I think she maybe wanted something punky and raw, but still I hope I encouraged her by setting the songs, as her words are so powerful and vivid. It was only a chance meeting, and I only met her twice, then we fell completely out of touch, so there is a mellow edge to the tale which speaks of the transience of life, as do her songs. I want to redress that a little by immortalising the songs here. Hayley - if you see this, get in touch! A xxxxxxx
