Construction of the Kinoru Stadium in Meru is expected to take another three months to complete, as the contractor is yet to begin working on the VIP Lounge. Four contractors have been deployed at the venue to speed up the work. Construction of the terraces, drainage system and the track are ongoing. Work on the VIP Lounge has been halted by the impending stand off between Sports Kenya and the area Administration Police Post, which has to be relocated for the work to go on. Once complete, the Meru County government says it will set up a stadia management board to run the stadium. The venue which was one of the four selected to host CHAN 2018, will be open for league games, national team matches and other sports.
