Kannada film KGF (Kolar Gold Fields), directed by Prashanth Neel, is the talk of the town. The trailer of the upcoming film was unveiled in a grand ceremony in Bengaluru and Chennai attended by many film personalities.

The trailer of the first part of KGF (planned as a two-part series) was released on YouTube in five languages, namely Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. Film buffs from across the country are going gaga about the trailer and its gritty content.

KGF's trailer begins with a scene depicting the birth of Rocky (Yash). The film focusses on Rocky's difficult childhood in Mumbai and how he became a gangster.

Reports suggest that KGF is one of the biggest films ever made in Kannada.

Director Prashanth, in an interview with a daily, said, "Yash dons the role of an ambitious gangster and the film narrates his rise and fall. The first installment of the series will show how his childhood shapes him into the gangster he becomes."

KGF, which is set in the 1970s, will hit the theatres on December 21. The film stars Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Vasishta N Simha, Ramya Krishnan and Malavika Avinash in prominent roles.

Yash made his film debut in 2007 with Jambada Hudugi, playing a supporting role in the film. In his second film, Moggina Manasu (2008), he played the male lead opposite Radhika Pandit. The film was a success and earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He went on to star in many commercially successful films including Modalasala (2010), Kirataka (2011), Drama (2012), Googly (2013), Raja Huli (2013), Gajakesari (2014), Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari (2014) Masterpiece (2015), Santhu Straight Forward (2016), KGF (2018) and the upcoming movies My Name is Kiraataka and Raana in 2019. His rise to success in Sandalwood has been well documented by the Broadcast media, and has been often rated as one of the popular actors in Karnataka.
