Don't Starve is an action-adventure game set in an open world environment. It is developed and published by Klei Entertainment. The game was released on Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux through Steam on April 23, 2013. It will be later ported on the PlayStation 4 at an unknown date.[1]
The game will be free to download to PlayStation Plus members upon release.

The game's goal is to survive for as long as you can, while avoiding starvation, insanity, and hostile enemies. The player can collect and craft a variety of tools and items as well as build various structures to aid in surviving. An "adventure mode" is also included in the game (accessed while playing in sandbox mode by finding a doorway that leads to the adventure challenges), which presents increasingly difficult levels for the player to complete.
When the character dies, an amount of experience is received proportional to the number of days survived, eventually unlocking other characters to use in future games in addition to the standard "Gentleman Scientist", Wilson. Each has his/her own perks. Some characters are only unlocked in "adventure mode", unattainable by gaining experience through survival.
The game also features permanent death, encouraging a die and retry approach to learn the way the world works.[2]

The player is a young, gentleman scientist by the name of Wilson, who is trying to make some sort of scientific advancement by pouring a liquid into a dish of powder, but without success when it exploded in his face. He sits down in a chair, tired of being unable to do anything right. Suddenly, Wilson's radio set begins speaking to him, and tells him he may learn forbidden knowledge to help him succeed in developing something that works. Wilson accepts, only to realize that the owner of the voice has tricked him. It belongs to a demon, of sorts, named Maxwell, who uses the machine to transport Wilson, against his will, to a mysterious land where, it seems, everything is trying to kill the Gentleman Scientist. Here is where the player has control of Wilson, and aims to survive in a dangerous new world.
In The Screecher, a mod recently released by Klei, players take control of Bill, a man camping out in a forest. One night, he hears a noise nearby and goes to investigate. Bill finds notes left by other campers and starts finding dead bodies with their faces ripped off, quickly deducing that he is being hunted by something in the forest. He makes his way to a helipad and uses a radio to call for help. Bill uses a generator to turn on the helipad's landing lights, but they instantly go out along with Bill's flashlight. When Bill turns his flashlight back on, he sees dozens of creatures rapidly swarming towards him as the game ends.
