Converting a GE Rangr 2 way radio retired from commercial service to the 2 meter Ham band. There are a lot of these types of radios on the surplus market these days because land mobile radios now have to be narrow band (2.5khz deviation) on most bands, and many local government users prefer to have more private, possibly encrypted digital radio systems these days. Steps include downloading new frequencies into the memory and re-tuning the transmit and receive vco's to ensure lock across the ham band. In this case the radio locked across the 2 meter band without any vco adjustment (I was surprised), but I did adjust them as close as I could get them without modifications. The RANGR has dual receive if conversion, 82.2 Mhz that then down converts to 455 khz. I had forgotten the IF frequencies when the video was made.
