While going through the ordeal, this friend (also named Rick, coincidentally) was posting some of the most moving notes and compositions I'd heard recently. I didn't set out to write a song of this nature, but the subject was just too present to not eventually worm its way in. While "Haunted" has unmistakeably somber tones, it is really about the triumph of love and how it persists even in the wake of our deepest tragedies. All the live footage was taken (with permission) from youtube, but the picture at the end is of Rick's wife, Kathie. Thanks for everything, Rick, and may God bless both of you.
