The Franciscan Missions in the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro is today one of Mexico's World Heritage Sites. The inscription covers the five missions namely Santiago de Jalpan, Nuestra Señora de la Luz de Tancoyol, Santa María del Agua de Landa, San Francisco del Valle de Tilaco and San Migual Concá. These missions were built during the last phase of the conversion to Christianity of the interior of Mexico during the mid 18th century.
