Yes, this enemy makes a return from the original FFIV (different name though). But is somewhat tougher. Just like with the previous fight, there's easy ways of dealing with this boss if you so choose. The easiest one is to use the item that casts slow to slow down the attacks. However, IMO, that makes this fight a complete joke. The second thing you'll want to do is equip the Flame Sword and Ice Sword. The Flame Sword is buyable in the town before the dungeon, and the Ice Sword you get in the dungeon that leads to this fight. Equipping them on Ceodore and Hooded Man makes getting through the dungeon so much easier, as so many enemies are weak to fire or ice and are resistant to the other one. So once you learn the weakness, you'll wreck the enemies.

Anyway, this applies to the boss fight because apparently the tentacles have different elemental weaknesses. Believe it or not, I did not realize this until I was actually recording it. Which is why I was starting so bad. I noticed Hooded Man was doing crap damage with a powerful sword, and I was thinking "oh god it resists fire now my healer will have to attack" but then I saw a tentacle in the back use an ice spell and had Hooded Man attack it and it did mass damage. So yea, figure out which tentacle is weak to what fast and get rid of them as fast as possible to make this easy.

I heard from a friend that if you remove all the tentacles, they'll just all regenerate. I don't know if this is true, but if you don't feel like risking it just leave one tentacle alive and crush the boss. This fight is only tough if you let the boss whomp you. Cura with Ceodore if both of your HPs are getting low, otherwise Hi-Potion. As for moon phases, you want black magic down, white magic up, attacking up most likely, and specials aren't important. So choose the best one with those in mind. The boss will slam you with pyshicals the most. Overall, this boss can be tricky since you only have two party members, and Ceodores Cura is extremely weak. Forutnately, Hi-Potions are 500 HP that you can use. Protect if you want, I wouldn't bother. Unless you're horribly underleveled it's not tough.
