Bellevue, Tenn.-- The Metro Public Health Department confirmed  a batch of mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile virus in Bellevue. The tested batch was collected near the Old Harding Pike and Harpeth Parkway intersection. West Nile can cause fatigue, headaches and back pain. In extreme cases, it can result in death.Many Bellevue residents say they are concerned, but will not let the virus keep them from the Memorial weekend outdoor activities. To avoid West Nile virus: use plenty of bug spray, avoid standing water, limit outdoor time especially at night when mosquitoes are most present, and cover up with long sleeves and pants if possible. The health department says there are no plans to spray to kill adult mosquitoes. The pest management staff does trap mosquitoes in all parts of Davidson County and tests standing water.
