Loha bhasma is made up of purified Iron, triphala and cow’s urine. In the preparation process, triphala is mixed with 700ml of cow’s urine and boiled until it becomes 200ml. This this concoction is used to crush the refined iron and then small flat round cakes are prepared out of it. These cakes are put in a closed container and then heated at a temperature of 8800 degree Celsius for next 4-5 hours. They are further taken out and then again mixed with the decoction of triphala and cow’s urine and again heated. The whole process is done 21 times in order to obtain lohabhasma. The whole process of preparation of lohabhasma takes overall 21 days.
