#jaggery #indian #dosa #rare

Jaggery has remained the quintessential Indian #sweetener for thousands of years. Not only in #India, but jaggery is also widely used in #Africa and the majority of countries on the #Asian continent. Jaggery is referred to as 'arkara' in #Sanskrit and has remained an integral part of the Ayurvedic medicinal system. It is prepared using #sugarcane #juice.

Jaggery is known as gul in Marathi, #gur in Urdu/Hindi, #bella in Kannada, #bellaṁ in Telugu, sharkara in Malayalam, Goḷa in Gujarati, guṛa in Bengali and Vellam in Tamil.

Our #ancestors regularly consumed jaggery. However, these days with the advent of white #sugar or #refined sugar, #traditional Indian jaggery is not widely consumed. Jaggery was so widely used that people who come home were given #water along with a piece of jaggery. It had the power to replenish all the lost #energy. The #Health benefits of jaggery are immense.

We all have heard of the #mouthwatering #masala dosa but not the jaggery dosa. #Jaggery was infused into dosas so that children and those who do not regularly consume it will also be benefitted from its health benefits. In this #youtube #video, we at Farm #Food #Factory introduce the #authentic #simple sweet dosa to our viewers.

#How? #Howto ? How to make jaggery dosa?
While there are many ways to prepare jaggery dosa, in this video of Farm Food Factory we have made dosas using the regular 'dosa batter'. All you need is to melt the jaggery, extract it and then mix it with the dosa batter. This process will infuse the #flavour of jaggery into the dosa. #Children who are fond of dosas will like the sweet dosas and they won't even know that you have added jaggery to the dosas.

Just give this traditional Indian #recipe a try. We are sure that children, adults and all will love the hot sweet jaggery dosas. Sweet dosa can be served along with #tasty coconut #chutney or any other #spicy or #nonspicy chutneys.
