A bit more Arcade Virtua Cop 3 Sega Chihiro arcade emulation via 
Cxbxr Emulator. Up until fairly recently the only way to play this game (apart from in an actual arcade) was to own a specially modified original Xbox with extra RAM (as that’s basically what the Sega Chihiro arcade hardware was). It's a real shame this never got ported to the original Xbox, as the likes of Outrun 2 and House of the Dead 3 showed that the system could cope pretty well with Chihiro ports despite the lack of the extra RAM.

The emulation is pretty good but not perfect: Certain sounds seem to get stuck in a weird percussive loop, which just keeps getting worse the longer you play (Once it starts up here I just overdub the audio with some music from the first Virtua Cop game).The frame rate’s a bit variable, alternating back and forth between 30 and 60 fps and the targeting circle things that show up the baddies don't look quite as chunky and colourful as they should. Some sort of weird screen obscuring artefact happened towards the end of the level here as well, I think it was meant to be smoke that's not displaying correctly. I'm using an Xbox 360 pad to play this, I don't think you can control the cursor with a mouse yet.

Despite being a big fan of the Virtua Cop series back in the day (I owned both of the first two games on the Saturn as well as a Justifier light gun), I never actually got to play this one in the arcade (or even saw it, for that matter). I like the new ES mode bits with the fact you can slow down time and shoot the bad guys bullets out of the air; "Virtua Cop 3 introduces a new slow-motion "bullet time" mechanism called "ES mode" which allows players to slow down time by stepping on a special pedal. While in ES mode, time slows down as the player's ES meter is depleted. The meter can be replenished by shooting more enemies".
