The director of public prosecutions Keriako Tobiko is cautioning against intimidation of independent institutions by politicians. According to Tobiko, the constant rebuking of institutions created by the constitution by politicians was hampering their delivery of services.

At the same time, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has called on the DPP to go after politicians using public facilities to campaign.

He said it was in contravention of the election offences Act 2016, section 14 which prohibits use of state resources in campaigns.

They both spoke during the third prosecution convention at the Kenya School of Government.
