I've been using the metaphor of a house to describe how consciousness evolves and develops, but a house is built rather than grown, and so the metaphor is imperfect. Consciousness grows, it is organic, it knows no end, or at least none that exists separate from where it already is. Videos I and II: Many ideas discussed, including the essence of language, the development of consciousness, relating to mother/nature, learning how to read, creating worlds. Video III: Phylogeny recapitulates ontogeny and other tidbits about the development of consciousness. Discussion of Jean Gebser. Videos IV: Reading and commenting on text from Gebser's wiki site. Videos V and VI: Discussion of John Searle and Alan Wallace's views on consciousness. The nature of paradigm shifts and their relation to transformations in the structure of consciousness.
