Bus In Deadly Ecuador Crash Had Drug Cargo

In Ecuador, police have found over 500 kilogrammes of drugs hidden in the floor of a bus that crashed this week leaving at least 24 people dead. According to authorities, the drugs had a value of US$1.7 million and the public prosecutor has opened a culpable homicide case against the bus driver who survived. The bus from Colombia was en route to Quito when it overturned on Tuesday. In addition to the 24 lives lost, 22 other people were also injured in the incident. On top of the ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the accident, another investigation will be conducted to find out the source and destination of the drugs.
