Kuressaare Castle had cloisters, a chapel, refectory (dining hall), and living quarters of the Bishop on the main floor. Defense Towers with narrow medieval staircases, that led to a Defense Gallery which allowed defenders to move around with ease.

In those days, they actually threw people to the lions as punishment, lowered prisoners (or others to teach a lesson) into a pit, and a skeleton was discovered entombed in the walls along with a letter telling his circumstances.
