This one (or perhaps I should say two?) took quite a while to figure out. He doesn't have the biggest arsenal of attacks, but two of three attacks are pretty bad. His regular physical attack delays the characters' turns, so if he uses it, he will attack again. Thankfully, he doesn't use this attack every turn; he chooses to remain motionless now and then too. On top of everything, this attack deals 1400 to the party. Obviously not good.

His other bad attack, Negation, is a counter attack that removes all positive statuses. So much for your belowed Haste and Protect. Finally, he's got Gravija, but that's only a % based attack, so it can't kill you. He also uses a turn to charge up for it, and that's something we can take advantage of.

So, after 10+ attempts, I finally figured out how the battle works. Once you move in, he charges up for Gravija after three regular turns. You don't want him to use Negation before a turn where he might use his physical attack, so we wait until the third turn before we strike.

Also, it seems the chance he'll use the physical attack increases if you attack him, so that's another good reason to wait until after the third turn. When I didn't attack him, he hardly ever used his physical attack more than once and some times, he didn't use it at all. When I attacked before his first turn, he often used it on all the three turns. That's instant death.

The battle actually gets easier if he attacks at least once, as it brings Rikku's HP to the critical level, which activates her SOS Haste and thus makes Negation completely harmless. If he didn't attack, I could have let Wakka and Kimahri attack her, but then she might not have gotten enough turns before the physical attack phase again.

As for the Right Fin, he NEVER attacked on his first three turns when I didn't attack him, so I didn't have to set up the characters to survive the attack.
