Guan Eng, Teng To Sue Each Other

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and state Barisan Nasional chairman Teng Chang Yeow's spat in the past two weeks over the RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel and three highways project, has led to a defamation suit.

Guan Eng had earlier said, he would sue Teng if the latter dared to say that he had lied regarding the payments of the Penang’s undersea tunnel project in which he did so today, at a press conference.

Teng said, this would be the first time that he harboured intentions to take a politician to court, although he has another legal matter with Guan Eng, concerning claims over a project in Pulau Jerejak.

Previously, he had said, the Penang government’s claim that it had not paid “a single sen” for the undersea tunnel project so far, was a lie.

And told the state government “to stop the blatant lie” and admit paying RM11.2 million as stated in a state assembly reply on November 2nd, last year.

Guan Eng, however, fired back and reiterated that not a sen was paid for the undersea tunnel component of the mega project which also included the construction of three highways.

But instead, the state paid RM208 million by way of land swap for work done on the three highways and not the undersea tunnel.
