Two arrests made in Walnut Hills shooting

WALNUT HILLS, Ohio (WKRC) - One teen is in critical condition and two others are in jail after a fight over marijuana in Walnut Hills. Dremar Barton, 18, is charged with felonious assault and aggravated robbery. Gabrielle Cody, 18, is charged with complicity.

According to court papers, Barton and the 16-year-old victim were arguing over the marijuana in the backseat of Cody's car on Yale Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Barton is accused of trying to push the teen from the car after taking his bookbag and pot. As they struggled, court papers say Barton fired one shot, hitting the teen in the torso.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition, according to police.

A plainclothes officer spotted Cody's PT Cruiser speeding away from the area. Other officers stopped her car on Sherman Avenue and took Barton and Cody into custody. A third teen in the car was released to his mother.

Police say they searched Cody's car and found evidence linking them to the shooting on Yale Avenue.

A judge ordered Barton held on one million dollars bond. Cody is locked up on $100,000 bond.
