A very long day. Much too long for a day tour (hindsight is always 20/20). Six hours of driving on a good road to reach the first destination, Tel Armarna, a ruined city built by Pharaoh Akhenaten, and dedicated to his new religion worship to the Aten. Completely destroyed, all that remained of interest were two beautifully decorated tombs carved into the rock. One belonged to his FAN BEARER (he had two fan bearers, of course, one on each side) and either the high priest or high priestess.

From there to Beni Hassan to see the four most important tombs open to visitors. Buried here were Governors of this area. (Governors had great power over the kings.) These tombs were unusual for different reasons. The highly decorated scenes were of daily life: acrobats, wrestling, shooting arrow, barber cutting hair, etc.
Wonderful sites but not worth a day trip from Cairo that called for 10 hours of driving! Please don't forget to Share, Like and Subscribe! Thanks.
