A couple from the UK was unable to retrieve their engagement ring after dropping it down a grate in New York’s Time Square. Police officers later managed to recover the ring and posted CCTV footage of the couple's futile search online in order to identify the ring's owner. Just a day later, mission accomplished thanks to social media and netizens.
