This is something that has been in the local news quite a bit recently. The ride sharing app called "Uber" was finally able to get into the Las Vegas market. As far as big metro areas, Las Vegas was one of the last places that Uber was able to penetrate. Uber has been fighting its case of NV Transportation v. Uber Technologies CV14-02284 in Carson City. NV Transportation claims that Uber should be regulated like any other company that provides transportation in Nevada. Uber states that they are a technology company, and that they should not fall under the same regulations. The judge presiding over the case felt there were good arguments on each side, but summed it up well when he said "technology is passing up current laws." The result was that Uber drivers are allowed to drop off on the strip and at the airport, but they cannot pick up at those locations. Uber is going to focus on serving the outlying areas of Las Vegas.
