At mile marker 170.2 on I-70 Highway was the scene of an accident in 2012 when Kelli Smith was going westbound in the eastbound lane at 3:32am. Smith slammed into an eastbound car, killing Thomas D. Sullivan. She was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in December 2014. A Missouri Court of Appeals threw out the conviction and the case is back in the Montgomery County courts.
