Two security staff were slightly injured when a bomb exploded at a shopping mall in Athens on Sunday morning, police said. Two phone calls were made to local media, a newspaper and a news site, approximately 50 minutes before the explosion, and authorities evacuated around 200 people from the Mall shopping center, located in the northern Maroussi suburb, a police official said. The bomb detonated around 11am and was placed into a trash bin near a National Bank branch. The time bomb was made from 1.5kg of gelatinous dynamite and a mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, also known as ANFO, according to police. Most of the mall was closed, but cafes, cinemas and restaurants were open for business. A camera showed two people, most likely male, put a bag in the trash bin about a half an hour before the warning calls to the media were made. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
