Chase suspect bails from vehicle at a Woodlawn school

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - An 18-year-old is accused of leading police on a chase that ended with the SUV hitting a school. 

Elijuwon Black faces theft, failure to comply with a police officer and traffic charges. According to court papers, Black admitted to stealing a 2003 Pontiac Aztec from C.W. Coach on Vine Street. A police officer tried to pull him over for a traffic violation February 2, but said Black refused to stop.

At some point, court papers indicate Black bailed out of the car while it was still in gear. It ran into the Bethany School on Oak Street in Woodlawn as kids were arriving. There were no reports of any injuries or damage to the school. 

Police caught up with Black a few blocks away on Redna Terrace. In addition to admitting to stealing the SUV, Black reportedly told police he stole a temporary tag from another vehicle and put it on the Aztec.

Black is held on $120,000 bond.
