Kenya truck drivers in Mombasa say Uganda counterparts get preferential treatment

Long distance truck drivers based in Mombasa are protesting at what they allege is unfair treatment given to them when compared to those from neighbouring Uganda. They say that work and pay conditions favour Ugandan drivers who come all the way to the Port of Mombasa to pick trailers destined for their country. The drivers are calling on the Government to introduce new measures to ensure that they get better pay packages since the standard-gauge railway has already contributed to the erosion of their revenue.
